" THIS ITALIAN CHOIR IS FIERCE AND FLAVOURSOME" says Larry Shwartz of the AGE GREEN GUIDE July 2008

"I just wanted to drop you a note to say how fantastic it was to have you perform at the Sovereign Hill Music Festival. The performance with the Italian Women's Choir in the Victoria Theatre was an absolute highlight of the festival - the feedback received from Sovereign Hill staff and visitors alike was just fabulous.I hope you all enjoyed the experience and look forward to having you back next year."

"Our heartfelt thanks for your making our Hands On Health Concert such a
memorable event. All really enjoyed it. It was so special to have you there to
celebrate 20 years of voluntary service from an inspiring cross-section of like-
hearted people. Thank you and please pass on our "abbracci affettuosi a
tutte le donne meravigliose che fanno parte della Voce Della Luna. Siete
veramente un gruppo pieno di passione e compassione.

It was an uplifting experience all round. Mille grazie da noi tutti.
We raised $5,500 after expenses which will keep us going for nearly a year
and help to start a couple of new clinics along the way. One in Norlane

Cara Kavisha,
I met you last week at the "Carers Vic" AGM where the coro performed, you sold me a C D. I just wanted to bring to your attention a series of C Ds which were compiled by a ethnomusicologist in the 1950s. He travelled through many regions of Itlay recording folk songs in situ which otherwise (I'd imagine) by now would have been lost. I've bought the one on Sicily because for many years I've been looking for a recording of the Carrittera (carter's song) and to my delight have now found it. My grandfather (who has long since died)was a carrittero and when they left the town early at dawn, a long line of carritteri would chant these songs as they made their way to work. My parents who are also deceased, use to recall these songs when they got together with paesani and sing them. I'm now in my 50s but as a child I'd find this chanting fascinating. I'd long thought that this chant was lost for ever so you can imagine my delight when I found a recording. It really did bring a tear to my eye when I brought it home and played it. These recordings are Issued by the Alan Lomax Collection and are called "Italian Treasury" they're sold at Readings Carlton. You may already know about them but just in case you didn't I thought I'd let you know. I admire the work you do with the Coro, especially in restoring some pride in our background.
Distinti saluti,

Paolo.(name changed) 26/11/07

" Dear Ladies, at the recent Sovereign Hill Music Festival in Ballarat,a friend and I had the priveledge to hear you perform. This was our first music festival and your choir was the first act we chose to see. we were absolutely delighted with the singing and were delighted with the intro and explanation of each song. as my great grandfather was born in Italy and immigrated to Australia in 1865,I have a special place in my heart for Italy, best wishes Cheryl 22/11/07
