“It
is 9 years since our first CD "Stepping out" and we are proud to finally present in
this recording, a selection of songs from many of the 20 Regions of
Italy that are traditional and popular songs telling stories about the
life of women and men and so speak of love, longing, seduction,
betrayal, anger, protest, emigration and happiness,” says Choir
Director, Kavisha Mazzella.
“In “Luna Yarra” we sing from a 500- year old tradition of Italian folk
music, with much of the music based on actual life events. The music
often is often tender and comic but sometimes confronting, even
suggestive, and the texts have their own earthy, poetic beauty. We have
named this CD after the Yarra River that runs through our home city .”
comments Kavisha.
